MY TRUE SELF? Poet: Aryan Thoria Repeated in my delicate ears, Connecting the nerves, with my oppressed brain, In an attempt to demoralize an innocent, Were the taunts, questioning my true self. You are a fool, have no sense! You are a filthy, have no status! You are insolent, lack a decent upbringing! You are so ugly, not friend-worthy? Sat by the riverside, as a lonely traveller, I looked at the reflection staring at me, Am I so bad? Questioned my reflection, Leaving a delicate individual, with lost self - esteem. Am I a fool? I run a shop to support a living, To bring a smile on my siblings’ faces, I fufil the duties of my star-like parents, Do my bad grades question my senses and abilities? Am I filthy? I dress untidily, With clothes full of grease, hair untidily combed, To buy new clothes for my dear brothers, Does it question my inner purity? Am I insolent? To reply back, Back to...
